Note: I don't know if this is the study the furbearer biologist, Geriann Albers was talking about on Trap House podcast or not, but it is a start. She talked about how in the "Angel Mounds" of Indiana they found coyote bones from a long time ago, which would show them to be a native species of Indiana. (this is all my interpretation of what she said, I don't really know anything about anything).
