Third -graders visit Flat River Historical Museum

The shelves in the “trading post” display the kinds of goods the fur traders may have offered in exchange. A variety of fur pelts offered soft touches, and trying on a heavy bear coat was a weighty challenge. Peering inside the museum’s wigwam, students could imagine what life was like in the past. Wearing a cradleboard gave a real feeling for mothers who carried their babies on their back.
